Diabetes − Type 1
Our multidisciplinary team of physicians, dietitians, nurses, and certified diabetes educators are skilled at managing type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that results in little or no insulin production. As a result, oral medications cannot be used as a treatment option and management requires the use of insulin. Well managed type 1 diabetes requires a balance between a healthy meal plan, exercise program, and insulin. Our team recognizes that each person is unique and the management plan has to be specific for the person living with diabetes. The diabetes management plan, including education and training, are individualized for each unique person. We provide on-site education for diabetes management including meal planning, exercise, as well as the latest in technology including insulin pump devices and continuous glucose sensors.
Diabetes − Type 2
Our multidisciplinary team is skilled at managing type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes accounts for approximately 90% of individuals living with diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas is not producing enough insulin or the insulin that is made is not working properly. Well managed type 2 diabetes is achieved through a combination of a healthy meal plan, exercise program and oral medications and/or insulin injections. Each individual living with diabetes is given a unique management plan. Our physicians help create a diabetes management plan that includes the latest in diabetes medications combined with diet and exercise to improve blood glucose management. In addition, our team of diabetes educators is on site to work with the patient to improve lifestyle factors that also play a key role in managing type 2 diabetes.
